SOCIAL DISTANCING

A lot of us are enduring social distancing and self-isolation for the first time. For John, like so many who live on the streets and in alleys, that is nothing new.

I met John on 7th Avenue in Ybor City, Florida. Covid shutdowns had just started so we kept a reasonable distance as we sat on the sidewalk. The city was desolate on this sunny afternoon.

We spoke a while. He is a fellow guitarist like me, so we had a lot of guitar stuff to talk about. I could sense that he was proud of his guitar knowledge.

However, with no family for support, things were at a low point. I sensed a sort of contentment from him as if he was ok with things for now. At least he seemed to convey that, perhaps it was pride though.
